My work is the world. Here the sunflowers, there the hummingbird - equal seekers of sweetness. Here the quickening yeast; there the blue plums...
— Mary Oliver

Do you remember the magic of wandering the woods as a kid, turning over rocks and jumping in mud puddles? Whether we're city slickers or forest dwellers, there's a piece of all of us that's eternally connected to nature... and your writing can be, too. This workshop will use multi-sensory prompts (think sparkly rocks and dried wildflowers) from the great outdoors to inspire you to ground your writing in nature. We'll also read aloud from incredible writers who draw from the natural world like Mary Oliver and Louise Glück. Whichever genre you're working in, descriptive writing that incorporates sensory details from the wild world around us will take your work to the next level.

If you're more of an indoor kid, don't worry -- this workshop takes place entirely inside!

You'll come away from this workshop with:

  • A deeper connection to nature and to your own writing.
  • Pages and pages of fresh writing.
  • Meaningful connections with other writers.
  • Take-home prompts and story starters to keep the magic rolling.

This workshop is appropriate for writers of all genres and experience levels, from bestselling mystery novelists to napkin poetry scribblers. You'll have the freedom to write whatever you please -- journal entries, grocery lists and manifestos are always welcome.

This is a brand new workshop, but you can check out love letters from past participants of other workshops here.
