I’ve been experiencing this blog-specific phenomenon in which I forget to mention some piece of big news, and then some other newsworthy thing happens, but I can’t write about Thing B because I haven’t yet written about Thing A, etc. I’ve decided to remedy this problem by telling you everything at once, on New Year’s Eve. If you follow me on Instagram, you most likely know all of this already. Woot!
1. I moved to Hamilton.
The fam and I moved to the Ham back in the spring. I launched Birds of a Feather here, the first session was completely amazing, and the second session has already sold out.
2. I won the RBC/PEN Canada New Voices Award.
I won for my short story, The Gall, which you can read right now on Minola Review.
3. I got a book deal.
My first picture book, Why Are You So Quiet?, will be published by Annick Press in 2020.
4. I got another book deal.
My first poetry chapbook, Hello Nice Man, will be published by Anstruther Press in spring 2019.
5. I got nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
Pick up a copy of Untethered Magazine to read my nominated poem, Crabapples.
6. I got an office.
I have a desk! And walls! Everything’s coming up Jaclyn.
I also went to New York City solo, my kid started kindergarten, and I lifted weights sometimes. 2018, you were a wild year. I can’t wait to start the next one.
